Waverley Borough Council has invited everyone to respond to the following consultations on Blackheath Common:

  • Blackheath Common Management Plan 2014-2024 Revised Extension
  • Blackheath Common Wildfire Management Plan 2026

Please submit your feedback online via this Blackheath Common SSSI Consultations webpage.

In exploring the documents we summarised our initial thoughts in a presentation, which can be viewed below.  This provided a starting point for conversation and exploration of key concerns.  These included:

  • Positioning and number of fire breaks / access gates
  • Community awareness and ownership of solutions
  • Signage and other avenues for information and education.
  • Resourcing of key stakeholders and cascading of information,

One resource designed to advise householder shared was the Wildfire Prepared leaflet, distributed by the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, which is below.

Wonersh Parish Council welcomed the input and interest from everyone who came along and will consider this in their response, which will be approved at the July 30 2026 Council Meeting at 7.30pm at Wonersh Sports Pavilion.  Members of the public are welcome to all of our meetings to speak in the open session and observe the Council’s decision making.

Full minutes of each of these meeting will be available on our website in due course.
