Barnett Hill Fields and Healy’s Wood

The local community has an active role in the management and upkeep of Barnett Hill Fields and Healy's Wood benefitting biodiversity and us.

Barnett Hill Field and Healy’s Wood were purchased in August 2023 by Wonersh Parish Council, supported by donations from the local community and a loan from the Public Works Loan Board.  Approval of this loan was based on the public support for this investment evidence of this is available in the results of the public consultation and the letter from the Department for Housing, Levelling-Up and Communities.

​​The objective of this investment was the balanced use of the land for the benefit of the local community and the environment.  Providing a long-term resource for the Parish for recreation and enjoyment, coupled with Improving the diversity and ecology of the site are key features of this. ​ ​

​Resident input and ownership of the facility continues with the Barnett Fields Group steering decisions with recommendations being made to Council.  Approved outline plans for the 20 acres can be viewed in the image below.  Council also recently approved the BFG-led Three Year Action Plan and longer term Woodland Management Plan, the latter was submitted to the Forestry Commission for formal approval.

Residents are enjoying accessing the fields and Wonersh Environmental Advisory Group hold regular volunteer days where residents work together to improve and manage this local amenity. If you want to sponsor, help or get involved, please get in touch with the Clerk in the first instance.
