Here you can find a copy of the Waverley Borough Council, 2026, Blackheath Common SSSI Wildfire Management Plan Version II.
You can find further details about Blackheath Common generally on the Waverley Borough Council Website . You can play a part in the maintenance and management of this beautiful place by participating in Waverley Countryside Volunteering sessions. On Blackheath Common, these take place on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, from 10am-3pm and are led by Lucie. Follow the link to the webpage to find out more about upcoming sessions, including details of how to register as a volunteer in advance of your first session.
We would also like to take this opportunity to share the thanks from the Waverley Borough Council ranger team, who have developed this Wildfire Management Plan in our parish.
“We are delighted to be able to deliver to you the Wildfire Management Plan for Blackheath.
We would like to sincerely thank all those who engaged with us over the circa 4 months of consultations, drop-in-day, meetings, and e-mails.
The revision and updating of the Wildfire Management Plan have been a journey in fully exploring the issues and opportunities across Blackheath and working with partners to ensure we deliver the best plan to protect life and property whist embedding sound wildfire and environmental principles into every step and decision.
We would like to especially thank Surrey Fire and Rescue for their expert advice and guidance throughout this process, The Albury Estate for their engagement and shared wildfire management objectives, the Parish Councils and Councillors for their support and residents and visitors to the area for their feedback and engagement with the consultation processes.
Whilst this step marks the end of the Wildfire consultations and the delivery of the Wildfire Management Plan we will now be working to, it does not mark the end of the process.
All our management plans are living documents and will be reviewed on an on-going basis to ensure they continue to deliver to the highest standards.
Once again, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has engaged throughout this process.”
